This release has opened an opportunity for Nall who while not playing a lot of offensive snaps has the most experience at fullback on the current roster. Last season, Dallas had high hopes for Olonilua before he went down with a neck injury, but his time came to an end as it seems like the Cowboys weren’t comfortable with Olonilua’s recovery. I believe Dowdle’s experience in the offense will help him in the end and ultimately allow him to win the backup role. Rico Dowdle at one point seemed like a favorite to be the backup, but after undergoing a knee scope, he’s opened the door for JaQuan Hardy and Aaron Shampklin to show what they can do and possibly unseat him at the position he was once favored to win. There are also reports that the team will be using Pollard in the slot with Elliott on the field at the same time. I continue to believe that the Cowboys will be using Elliott and Pollard both as the starter this season because I feel this team will finally realize that there are games where starting Pollard over Elliott makes more sense based on the matchup. Starters: Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard Until then, I have them rolling with Prescott and Rush and picking up a third quarterback down the line after roster cuts or via a trade. He’ll need to have a strong camp and preseason if he wants to give the Cowboys a reason to keep a third quarterback. After the reports of how bad Will Grier has looked in team practices, I’m not sure if he will be on this Cowboys roster once the season begins. After his victory last season, Cooper Rush is also safe as the Cowboys’ backup quarterback barring an injury. Nothing will change for this team in terms of their starting QB.
